Document Templates
A well-designed template is the starting place for every great document. If you produce certain types of documents over and over, say a business plan, then you can save a great deal of time and money by developing a template specifically for business plans.
Write Now Design can build custom templates for any document type, including web pages, M S Word, StarOffice, FrameMaker, or Dreamweaver, AND we can train you to use the templates.
The Advantages of Using Templates
- Saves time and money
- Strengthens company identity
- Ensures a consistent look and feel
- Enables authors to concentrate on content rather than form
- Makes your document process repeatable.
Template Types
There are two types of templates, format and content, and they are often combined.
A format template defines what the document will look like. For example, it determines what each page will look like, it defines every type of paragraph you will use from headings and footings to numbered and bulleted lists.
A content template, on the other hand, is an outline of a specific document's content, and it ensures that each document created from the template contains the same content sections.
For example, a content template of a business letter would have placeholders for the following items:
Date:
To:
From:
Subject:
Salutation:
Body:
Closing:
